Understanding the professionalization contract
The professionalization contract lets you earn a professional qualification by alternating classroom learning with hands-on practice in a company. Like an apprenticeship, it gives you employee status, but it is open to a wider audience, in particular jobseekers and people changing careers.

Who can sign a professionalization contract?
- young people aged 16 to 25 inclusive;
- jobseekers aged 26 and over;
- recipients of certain welfare benefits (RSA income support, the specific solidarity allowance, the disabled adults' allowance) or of a single integration contract.
Which ESIC programs are eligible?
All of ESIC's programs, in IT as well as in business and management, can be taken under a professionalization contract.
Apprenticeship or professionalization? Both are work-study contracts with employee status. The apprenticeship mainly targets 16-to-29-year-olds in initial training; the professionalization contract opens work-study up to jobseekers and career changers.
